Pathogen Control

From the research laboratories at WRc UK there is the following information:

http://ec.europa.eu/environment/waste/sludge/pdf/sludge_eval.pdf

list all 6 harmful groups of viruses, helminths, bacteria, protozoa, yeasts and fungi…

Parameters affecting the kill or inactivation of pathogens

Thermophilic temperatures are lethal to pathogens if they are exposed for sufficient time such

as: 7 minutes at 70°C; 30 minutes at 65°C; or 4 hours at 55°C in digesting conditions.

Good Gardeners International’s HH-2 system of heat treatment for fecal contaminated waste is containerised and monitored by temperature and is over 50 C for a week, reaching 65 C for at least three days. Therefore it is well above the WRC’s recommendations for safe treatment of pathogens. http://www.wrcplc.co.uk/
